The main school building, Dalewood House, was built in 1883, having been commissioned by D H Evans, the Oxford Street department store owner, as a wedding present for his daughter. Although the house was built during the Victorian era, its design is both mock Tudor and Gothic. The interior is full of hand-painted tiles, beautifully crafted stained glass windows, and fine wood panelling with magnificent fireplaces throughout. The grand fire place in the entrance hall is lit during the colder months of the year adding to the cheer and warmth of the hall so that friends may gather together around it. Box Hill School Trust takes it responsibility as custodian of this lovely heritage building extremely seriously and maintains the house and grounds to the highest possible standards.
