Box Hill School - Design & Technology

All pupils study Design and Technology at Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9) and in years 10 and 11, AQA courses in Resistant Materials are offered at GCSE. The classroom and workshop areas are bright and spacious and exceptionally well equipped, occupying a recently refurbished workshop. Students at all levels make full use of the resources available in the production of their design folio, together with an accompanying end product.

Key Stage 3 (Year 7-9)

The course addresses the need to blend skills development and design awareness with the emphasis on quality materials and good quality making of an artefact with creativity and ideas being an important factor. Projects are set by the department.

Key Stage 4 (Year 10-11)

Students in Years 10 and 11 will all undertake individual pieces of coursework.

Students in Resistant Materials all follow the same coursework objectives. These objectives are common to all exams.
